What is the difference between an HD modulator and an HDMI extender?

An HD modulator creates a television RF service for reception by compatible tuners over a coax network. An HDMI extender transports an HDMI connection using its specified transmission method and receiver equipment. They serve different distribution designs; compare the receiving equipment, distance, channel selection, and number of displays required.
